MAX and 400G

The MAX Engineers have been working around the clock implementing refreshed network gear and 400G capabilities. MAX is nearing the completion of a network-wide refresh, modernizing every layer of the network to leverage newer technologies and faster speeds and is able to make 400G connections at this stage.  The DWDM layer will leverage what is known as “flex grid,” which allows for broader optical channel widths, and higher speeds. Our new core optical network will utilize 800G optical channels, and edge optical nodes will utilize 400G channels.  The switched and routed layer that sits on top of the optical layer will also be upgraded so that all backbone links are either 100G (edge) or 400G (core), depending on traffic requirements. We are in the process of upgrading many of our customers and Internet2 peering points to 400G.

Many MAX Participants have already taken advantage of the expanded bandwith. Contact our team now to explore your options!
